Surely you have better things to do, It would be easier to hold his 70s fashion sense against him.
I don't know what he said about it in the 70's but I do know that he has to do something after losing the election to sustain his big houses and transportation costs. Every one has to make a living.
I think what he suggested, like Mr. Bush (and Mussolini, Stalin, Lenin) is that someone (ie - terrorists) are out to get you! And for NO REASON - we're innocent, so you should be suspect of anyone who looks...well, like they have a towel on their head - or arent white! The key my friend is to just stay silent, consume your goods without thought, and die. Whats so hard about that? Since you clearly question all peer-reviewed science (like medicine, electronics, physics, genetics - etc....hey - who wouldn't???) you truly have reason to question, you know - facts and data - ANYTHING that would suggest humans are increasing earths temperature. Like I say - the only science thats bunk is the science that doesn't support my enlightened, well-documented views (ok...I don't have any data to support otherwise but I'm just saying...) Mostly though - its nice to just live your life without questioning, and watch Fox news, and just buy stuff, and drive all around, and do your part to win the global resources tug-o-war. The US is already 5% of the worlds population (1 in 20) using 30% of its global resources - personally, thats not enough for me - I want more - I want us up to about 95 to 98% of that resource use. You should too! Together, we can do it! Why feel all guilty - you OWN these things - so its your DUTY to burn them up. You military isn't all over the globe for FUN - its to cover the US companies pillaging the resources we need not only to be happy, but also wasteful. And thats more important than anything, I think. Science - except for medicine, the space shuttle, cars & electronics - its pretty much just bunk superstition if you ask me. And evolution...now THERE'S a wacko theory - what a joke! We all know God just snapped his fingers, invented the earth, the duckbilled platypus, and then put ONE DUDE on the entire earth to enjoy it! Now THATS a real fact sir - go and read it in the bible. You know Al - he really wants you to just go about your life without any concern for now or later, or other forms of life - they're just here to turn into products aren't they? (At least, it seems like they are). Thats what anyone should do - why think about tomorrow - lots of goods to eat up now. Um...yummy. I think about it like this - if my child couldnt swim and fell into the water - I'd say 'hey, maybe that child will figure it out so I'll just watch and see what happens...no need to take action. Likewsie with global warming - its wisest just to sit back and take no action (or hell, even recognize it) - it'll all work itself out I'll betcha! Like that child - it'll save itself - and if not, oh well - there's only 6 billion more 'em! Thats what you should do for global warming. Just sit on back, kick on the TV, get some snacks and have yourself a good chuckle. Everything will be fine...and in the end, you'll win and be happy and proud and your kids will love, respect and thank you (if hey haven't drowned). Most of all, you won't have to really think about anything really...and thats what I think makes us unique as Americans. Cheers - oh, and pop a cold one for me, eh? Salute!
Back then some popular magazines publishe articles about the new sscience of climate study. Scientists did not have a picture o fhow the climate worked yet--one of the HYPOTHESES was that the Earth might eventually have another IceAge. Today--with the data in, global warming is a proven fact. So is the cause--human activities. The "deniers" seem to be under the impression that citing a SPECULATIVE time article from 30 years ago demonstrates how much they know about global warming, etc. The very fact that they don't know the differeence between a hypothesis and a scientific consesus, or between a newsmagazine and a scientific journal--only shows how ridiculous and ignorant theyare.

If anyone is going to champion the cause of Global Warming, I don't think Al Gore is the person to do it. He has too big an ego. Besides taking credit for creating the Internet, he's got to pose in limos and private jets while trying to act concerned about CO2 emissions. I don't know if anyone old enough to remember the media in the 1970's is in doubt about the coming ice age being a popular topic of discussion for researchers. The human race has had ice ages before and it's invertible we will have an ice age again. Researchers were just speculating about how long it would take.

Khabibullo Abdusamatov expects a repeat of the period known as the Little Ice Age. During the 16th century, the Baltic Sea froze so hard that hotels were built on the ice for people crossing the sea in coaches. The Little Ice Age is believed to have contributed to the end of the Norse colony in Greenland, which was founded during an interval of much warmer weather. Abdusamatov and his colleagues at the Russian Academy of Sciences astronomical observatory said the prediction is based on measurement of solar emissions, Novosti reported. They expect the cooling to begin within a few years and to reach its peak between 2055 and 2060. "The global temperature maximum has been reached on Earth, and Earth's global temperature will decline to a climatic minimum even without the Kyoto protocol."
