Do Gays, Blacks or any other special interest group deserve special treatment ?

In our search for equality we come to a place where some are more equal than others. I am a hard core progressive, socialist, environmentalist, pacifist... that believes in a living right. When we seek special acceptance we fractionate our collective spirit. If you took all the liberal minded, fair people in this country and gave them a single objective you would see an amazing thing. It is the ability of the Global elite to devide and conquer that keeps us from moving forward.... we all have much more in common than not. Empathy is the key to our success.... can we all just get along? we have to be honest with ourselves... I am no bigot but I'm not blind to a form of reverse discrimination.

  1. If "people are people" as so many of these "special interest groups" insist, then why should anyone deserve special treatment?
  2. no I think the hypynated american stuff is garbage and devisive
  3. If they want us to accept them as equals, then why the special interest groups and why the special treatments?
  4. I do not think that anyone wants special treatment. For example blacks did not want to be forced to sit at the back of the bus, and gays want to marry and enjoy the same societal benefits as straights. I do not see that as special treatment at all.
  5. By asking for a special treatment, special interest groups are contradicting their search for the equal treatment.
  6. No one deserves special treatment, period.
  7. How is wanting equal rights and one's civil rights the same as special treatment? I'd say they just want the same rights to marry and rights to access of good education that rich whites and some middle class whites have. That's not special rights, that's civil rights.
  8. NO! Especially not when it is their decision of who they will have sex with that makes them "special." Some folks posting on here have never seen poor white people? Get out of your ivory towers once in a while.
  9. If people treated each other with respect there would be no need for so called special treatment. However, so many gays, blacks, hispanics, cross-dressers, have been found dead by the side of the road. Special Protections or Death, not very hard to chose the right answer.
  10. white males have been oppressing us for centuries. its your turn to be victimized now sucka!
  11. No but they sure has hell get it
  12. They do get special treatment...especially BAD treatment! So Bad not one of you will ever trade places with these people even the rich ones.
  13. No. The 14th amendment clearly states "EQUAL protection". not "SPECIAL protection" for some groups.
  14. What do you consider to be "special treatment"? I don't believe that many who "have social privelege" fully understand the amount of freedom that they "naturally" have and so, they probably believe that those who are--or were-- forced to live on the "social margins" are being given "special treatment".
  15. I assume that the original goal is to become seen as or treated as equal to the majority, it seems to me that if one receives special treatment or special advantages, then one is no longer equal but has an advantage that is not available to the majority, therefore they are unfairly better than equal.
  16. I don't think blacks, gays, or other groups get special treatment- they just strive to get equal treatment which they currently are not getting
  17. Special treatment & acceptance?? When, in the 21st century, people are still discriminated against based on such things as the color of their skin or their sexual orientation.
