What are the best job search websites these days? I might have to start job searching in a couple of months due to a potential layoff. I haven't been in the job market for several years, and I know there are a ton of new job search websites out there since then. Used to be that Monster was pretty much it! I have a bachelor's and about 20 years experience in the marketing/advertising field. I would appreciate recommendations for professional sites that offer more than just a bunch of entry-level stuff and bogus sales jobs.

What can I do to make a job search more efficient and less time consuming? I know that job hunting is considered to be time consuming but what I meant by my initial question was what can I do to improve my job hunting so I can get the maximum results for the time alloted to me? Job search help!! What should I look for when looking for financial counseling jobs? I am currently trying to job hunt and am interested in a financial counseling position with a non-profit compant. I DO NOT want to work for a credit card company...only non-profits! I am having a horrible time finding any jobs that are anything close to what I want to do. I am using Monster and Yahoo Hotjobs and can't find a thing. Anyone have any search tips for this career or any other sites that could help me? Thanks!! And btw, I will be an AFC (an Accredited Financial Counselor) soon so I have more than the needed experience and credentials.
Are job search sites that charge a fee worth it? I like my current job, but I'd love an international job that would give me an opportunity to see the world. I've been looking around at different job sites, and a lot of them charge a fee to post my resume and do a search. I've noticed that the biggest sites like Monster and Hotjobs are free, but are the smaller sites that charge a fee worth it? I don't want to pay the fee and then find out that next to no employers use them.
How do evade your nosy present employer from seeing your job search on the internet? Specifically, the present employer can see the job searches on the job search sites and routinely looks. If he sees my name on there, I would most likely be fired on the spot. I am not happy, and feel trapped. I asked this question before and received an answer about not doing it from work. It does not matter where I put my resumes in if he looks on the job site. What to do?
What is the best way to search for a job which involves travel? Im currently an accountant for a large company and most days consist of balancing not falling asleep and updating spreadsheets/databases. I would like to move into a financial analyst role that would involve some travel, as I feel this would add an interesting dimension to my career. The problem Im having is with the major job search websites, non of which seem to offer much info regarding travel involved with the postings. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find this information, or even a specific company to look into? Anything helps!
How to write off job-search-related phone calls? I know I can write off expenses related to a job search. I was searching for a job for two months, and during that time, I racked up $400 in cell phone calls (phone interviews, voicemail). However, I have personal calls mixed in as well. Can I write off the bills for the entire two months, or only the specific phone calls I made?
What are the best ways to search for and land a salary job? I have been unemployed for the past 3 months. Before that I was employed full time for the last 11 years and earned my bachelor's degree in managment a few months ago. During my unemployment period I have been applying for jobs and have had interviews but have not landed a job as of yet. I look back and see that I have not been aggressive enough in my job search and need to drastically pick up the pace. Is is acceptable to personally go to the companies and ask for an interview? I need to get a job ASAP.

Tips for keeping a job search as a secret? I already have a job, but the position does not offer me benefits, and there is an extremely small chance of advancement. I could move laterally, but upward mobility is highly unlikely. I know the obvious things like not conducting the job search using the company computers, don't save the materials onto the computer at work, conduct phone calls discreetly or outside, don't give the contact info as your work email/number, try to take time off or be discreet if interviewing, etc. Any other hints?

How do interviews work in a long-distance job search? I'm a college student who's graduating in June, and I'm planning on moving cross-country soon afterwards. I'd really like to have a job lined up before I move. I don't know much about job searching, but I've always been told that first you send in your resume along with a cover letter requesting an interview. I know how to find openings online and send my resume, but I have no idea how the interview step is supposed to work. As far as I know, my options are: 1. Ask for a phone interview (I could do this, but I think I present myself better in person) 2. Plan on flying over there for interviews sometime before June (I'd have to miss class, so I'd rather not do this) 3. Ask the companies if they'll wait until June to interview me (but like I said, I'd rather get the job before I move) So what should I do? Do companies ever hire people without an interview? Also, should I request one of these options in my cover letter, or just explain my situation and let them say what they want to do?

Upgrading puts his resume to the top of a employers list when they do a search...worth it?
I need to know how to find a job without using job search engines? I graduated with my MBA in December and I also have a BS in Economics. I did not think I would have much trouble finding a job. I live in the Dallas area and have been trying to find a job using job search engines such as Monster, Career Builder, and Hot Jobs but four months later I am not having much luck. I went to school out of state and so the school's resources are not of much use to me. With the internet and technology I feel as if I am getting overlooked because of the number of applicants that can apply even from their current jobs. I tried walking my resume into local companies but most do not accept resumes in person any longer. I really need some advice to get noticed because I am afraid that soon I will have to take a job that I am overqualified for because my grace period for my loans is running out. PLEASE HELP!!

I have now been back and actively seeking a job for about three months. I am broke and bored! I am wondering how long people typically spend looking for their first job. How to create a job search engine? I'm trying to create a small job site, and would like to feature a search engine similar to what monster.com has. Where do I start? Resources? I need something more than a basic search. For instance, I would like users to be able to search for advertising jobs in Miami, Florida, that were posted within the past 2 weeks. I'm not inquiring for opinions on the feasibility of my project. I'm interested in opinions on how to go about starting this sort of project, without hiring an outsider. Seriously people, are directions that difficult to follow?
